Peissahk Passick Pessach Family

Those pictures were sent by Vera Hochberg, my sister. She's the owner of a great picture collection and is sharing the images with us. Click on the picture to enlarge. I start with the classic family Peissahk picture, previously shown in the blog, but now in brown. Three couples and kids: the Faermanns, the Rubim and the Peissahk. My mother is Marieta Peissahk, below at right. Here's the other side of the picture above, and brings crucial information: the date is march, 15th 1924! It's signed by my grandfather Alberto Peissahk and the place is Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. My grandparents in colors! Ok, is hand made paint. Alberto Peissahk and Berta Svoltz Peissahk. Foto enviada para mim pelo Sergio Faermann, nosso primo que mora em Israel.  Shown: Zelig Faermann, his son Mauricio, his daughter Esther and his second wife Maria.  Goldie Pessach passed away very young, at age 28, and left Zelig with two small children. Zelig married Maria, who raised the children from that young age. She did not have children of her own.  Sergio Coster

Sergio Coster, USA1962 When I was 18 and living in Porto Alegre, Brazil, I was lucky enough to go to the United States with a scholarship of American Field Service (AFS). The year was 1961 and I was scheduled to live with a Jewish family in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Which I did, fitting well with the Schloff family – the parents and their three boys. During this time I was in correspondence with Shirley Mosner and she invited me to go to stay with them in Nanuet during Christmas vacation. I secured an unusual permit from the Schloffs and from AFS to travel to NY and so I was the first one to connect the Brazilian and the American branches of the Pessach family after more than 50 years. It was then that I got to know Shirley and David Mosner, their children; Great Uncle Sol and Lisa Passick; Irving and Naomi Passick and their children; and Marvin and Sylvia Passick and their two boys. Nossa prima Martha Pargendler Faermann era esposa do Maurício Faermann, um Pessach por parte de mãe. Ele era filho da tia Golde, e desta forma, era primo da Esther, Rosa, Marieta, da Godi e dos Rubim, entre muitos outros. A partir da esquerda: Esther e Marieta Peissahk,  Mauricio Faermann,  Rosa Peissahk e  senhora não identificada Abro um parêntese para lembrar que o Mauricio era muito próximo de minha mãe, Marieta. Eles eram amigos desde a infância e quando adultos sempre se visitavam, apesar de viverem em cidades diferentes por boa parte da vida. Nasceram no mesmo ano, 1920, e aparecem juntos em algumas fotos de infância, como esta ao lado. Lembro de acompanhar minha mãe a muitas visitas à casa da família Faermann, numa travessa da Avenida Protásio Alves, em Porto Alegre. Bons tempos.
